Over the years, we have completed various projects for many different organisations. Most of the work we undertake is by way of referrals from previous work that we have successfully completed and via submitting successful tender proposals.

Explore @ Bristol Science Centre At-Bristol

YDM was commissioned to undertake an ongoing evaluation for a fifteen month pilot project called 'Bright Sparks'. The project focused on four BAME (Black & Asian Minority Ethnic supplementary schools working in partnership with Explore-At-Bristol Science Centre to increase awareness and interest of science in general. Nottingham City Council, Children & Families ServicesNottingham City Council

In partnership with another consultant,we evaluated all the parenting programmes (Strengthening Families, Webster Stratton/Incredible Years, Triple P Strenthening Families Strengthening Communities and 123 Magic), run by Nottingham City Council to evaluate the impact they have had on parents who went on these courses.

 

Nottingham City Council, Children & Families Services

YDM was commissioned to research into the support needs of parents/carers from the Pakistani & Bangladeshi community who may be suffering from mental health, drug and alcohol abuse, domestic violence or youth offending. You can download or view the executive summary here.

 

Meadows Muslim Centre, Nottingham

YDM helped to identify funding bodies and submit applications on behalf of the Meadows Muslim Centre in order to secure funding for a centre co-ordinator post.

 

Nottinghamshire Black Partnership

In conjunction with another consultancy, YDM was commissioned to undertake the second phase research of setting up a BME resource centre in Nottinghamshire. This was a continuation of the work carried out last year to basically take the project forward into the next phase and examine asset transfer as a possibility for this project.

YDM was jointly commissioned to undertake a Feasibility Study into Setting up a Potential BME Resource Centre for Nottinghamshire. We interviewed 28 new and emerging BME groups to ascertain their views on a BME Resource Centre. An interim report was produced followed by further interviews with infrastructure organisations to ascertain their views and opinions on such a centre. These findings have been presented to the infrastructure consortium as well as a final report.

 

Bristol Supplementary Schools' Evaluation

(commissioned by the MSSSP, Erondu and Supplementary Schools' Support Project)
In conjunction with Navigation Consulting, YDM carried out a comprehensive evaluation into black / African-Caribbean and Muslim pupils at both primary and secondary level. The aim of the research was to assess the impact that supplementary education has on mainstream education and to identify good practice as well as make recommendations for future funding and development.

YDM assisted in carrying out a qualitative piece of research on the training and support needs of BME communities in Nottinghamshire.

 

Greater Nottingham Learning Partnership (GNLP)

One of the consultants for YDM has produced a briefing paper on Identifying the needs/issues around refugees and asylum seekers in Nottingham.

 

Capacity Builders, BirminghamCapacity Builders

Capacity builders asked Change-Up consortia's to undertake a self assessment exercise - the Consortia Development Toolkit. They wanted consortias to undertake the toolkit during 1st June - 30th September 2007. It was estimated that consortias would need a day in which to complete the toolkit. YDM was involved in the facilitation for the Consortia's of Shropshire, East and Central London, whereby our consultants helped them to complete this important self assessment exercise by spending one day each with them and facilitating the whole process.

 

Joseph Rowntree Charitable Trust, York

Evaluation of Racial Justice Programme in West Yorkshire (1997 - 2007). Along withJoseph Rowntree Charitable Trustanother Consultant, we helped to carry out a review of the Joseph Rowntree Charitable Trust's West Yorkshire Racial Justice Programme from 1997 to 2007. As a part of this review we conducted interviews with organisations that had contact with the programme including both successful and unsuccessful grant applicants. We also ran focus groups to ascertain the level of racial tension within West Yorkshire. The report is now available from the Trust.

 

Southwell DioceseDiocese of Southwell & Nottingham

YDM was commissioned to research on the contribution and needs of Muslim faith based organisations across Nottinghamshire.

Focus groups and in-depth interviews were carried out to find out the views and opinions of local residents who use the Mary Potter Health Centre with regards to the joint Access Centre re-development

 

Partnership Council - Base Camp, Nottingham

Working with local bme community groups in Nottingham to help them access funding and helping them to capacity build in various areas.

 

Joseph Priestley College, Leeds

YDM undertook a piece of research to identify the reasons why people from ethnic minorities were not accessing ESOL provision at the Joseph Priestly FE College in Leeds. A report was produced and the recommendations were subsequently implemented within the college, resulting in an increase in ethnic minorities taking up a course at the college.

 

Quest for Education and Development, UKQED

Identified the needs of BME communities in Bradford and helped to set up a retail skills course for BME women.
