Explore @ Bristol Science Centre
Explore-At-Bristol commissioned YDM Ltd to undertake an external evaluation of the Supplementary schools project funded by the Paul Hamlyn Foundation.
"YDM. Ltd conducted an ongoing evaluation over the 15 months of the project, collecting evidence to assess the impact of the project on leaders from supplementary schools as well as participating students.
The evaluator's flexible approach, her knowledge of the community and her commitment in helping us to communicate complex messages to diverse audiences has been of invaluable support."
The project enabled At-Bristol to work towards achieving its mission of making science accessible to all and gain insight and feedback that will further increase the inclusiveness of its learning programme.
At-Bristol consulted with Bristol City Council’s Supplementary Schools Co-ordinator. The partner schools that would take part in the project were identified through the Supplementary Schools’ Forum. Through consultation and partnership working, At-Bristol developed a clear understanding of the schools’ needs and how At-Bristol’s interactive, informal approach would benefit their students.

"YDM worked with both service providers and users. They were able to access all service users and to overcome all barriers including language, resulting in a good sample of views and experiences.
The quality of the information received was therefore high. This was assisted by the report format as this was well structured and well written.
The report will be disseminated to service providers and also inform the commissioning process, enabling the department to offer more personalised services and improve outcomes for adults and children in the communities. The Consultants kept the Parenting Manager informed about developments at regular intervals. The Consultants were also accessible and reflected a solid understanding of the brief.
I am happy to attest to the very high standards of the Consultants and the quality of their work. I will certainly be making them aware of forthcoming opportunities and would definitely recommend them to other authorities".
